Synopsis
The Poet of Light
Bathed in silence and sun, The Poet of Light is a cinematic meditation on the life and vision of German-born painter Jürgen Mitransky—a man who does not merely paint light, but listens to it.
Directed by Andrejka Skračić, this nine-minute documentary is less a biography than a whispered invitation into the soul of an artist whose brushstrokes echo the shimmer of the sea and the hush of dawn. From the industrial gray of Rendsburg to the luminous blues of Murter, Mitransky’s journey is not marked by fame, but by the quiet persistence of wonder.
Accompanied by Mahler’s “Adagietto,” the film unfolds like a moving canvas: soft, unhurried, reverent. We do not merely observe the artist—we dwell in his world, where shadow is never darkness, only the breath before illumination.
About
Where Light Rests
In The Poet of Light, director Andrejka Skračić crafts a delicate, luminous homage to Jürgen Mitransky—an artist whose brush does not imitate the world, but translates its light into silence.
This 9-minute documentary is a whispered journey through the painter’s life and inner landscape, unfolding between his roots in Germany and the sun-kissed solitude of Murter, Croatia. With Gustav Mahler’s ethereal “Adagietto” guiding the rhythm, the film paints in mood rather than exposition—letting the viewer drift through scenes where sea and sky blur, and color breathes.
Mitransky is not portrayed as a man chasing legacy, but as one who waits patiently for the exact shade of a moment. He is, as the title suggests, a poet—not of words, but of light itself.

A video created on the occasion of the painter's solo exhibition at the Old City Hall in Split, in May 2016. Screened during the event, this short documentary familiarised the visitors with some details of the artist’s life, his working methodology and sources of inspiration.
